Redesigning for a Tablet Interface 

WHAT IS IT?

VeEX Inc. is a communications Test and Measurement company that develops innovative test solutions for next generation communication networks and services. They specialize in Test and Measurement solutions,  CATV & DOCIS, Carrier & Metro Ethernet, SyncE, 1588v2 PTP, Fibre Channel, OTN, SDH, SONET, PDH/DSn, Wireless Backhaul Synchronization, and I&M. 

WHAT DID I DO?

As a freelance UI design consultant, I was roped in to help redesign the old platform interface which was  on a 7” LCD, resistive touch screen with 800x480 resolution.  Through the use of a heuristic evaluation, I was able to pinpoint several usability errors which led to a  layout redesign for a 10.1” LCD capacitive touch screen with 1600x1200 resolution. 

My report consisted of comprehensive suggestions on the icon sizing, resolution, appearance and placement and ways to present information with pop-ups, status bars, and tools bars. Furthermore, it had screen mock-ups to provide visual examples for content organization.
