"Happiness Wine" Sake Fountain
How might we make a wedding very extra?
What is it?
A custom built fountain that dispensed cold sake continuously with smart LEDs that changed color while guests served themselves.
Where did the idea come from?
This foundation was commissioned for a Chinese wedding and was built as a symbolic representation of sharing a family's overflowing love and happiness. The Chinese character characters "xi jiu" on the sign translates to "happiness wine". When you drink "happiness wine" in Chinese culture it alludes to a wedding or a post engagement moment so the sign invited guests to share in the happiness of the occasion.
Sake was chosen because the groom loves sake and so we could utilize the symbolism of the wooden masu cup. In modern times the masu cup is used for special occasions such as anniversaries or weddings. A sake glass is placed inside the masu cup and the host will pour the sake until it overflows. The overflow represents generosity, kindness and appreciation. By using a masu cup to "catch" the never ending flow of sake from the bottle - we wanted to let guests know that the happy couple appreciated their attendance and were overflowing with gratitude.
